American Heart Association Diet
0American Heart Association diet is designed to reduce chances of heart attack and strokes, or to prevent it from reoccurring for something who already had one. It is similar to the high blood pressure diet. American Heart Association diet promotes physical wellbeing. This diet is pretty similar to most other healthy diets.
The guidelines are as followed:
1. Eat plenty of different vegetables and fruits. Make sure you get at least five servings.
2. Eat tons of whole grains to provide soluble fibre.
3. Get essential fatty acids from either supplements or actual fish. Fish like salmon and tuna are high in omegas.
4. Don’t eat anything high in fat. You should drink skim milk instead of whole mark, remove skin from chicken before eating and don’t eat fried food.
5. Especially avoid trans-fat and saturated fat.
6. Exercise for at least 30 minutes a day.
7. Limit cholesterol intake.
8. Do not take in more calories than the amount you burn off every day.
9. Do not eat more than 1 and a quarter teaspoon of salt a day.
10. Limit your drinking to 1 alcoholic drink a day for women, and 2 for men.
This diet is not only good for the heart but it could also help you lose or maintain a healthy weight and prevent other diseases.
